Very comfortable with the Abmat Hip thruster pad and Pivot pad. So much nicer having the bar off my hips and the edge of the bench no longer digging into my back. Will take me awhile to get used to the new set up. I choked my boots against some kettle bells as the wooden floor was a bit slippery.
This thing is awesome! I've tried using various things to make gluten bridges more comfortable but I was only ever semi successful. This makes them so much easier to do! I definitely recommend having one.
AMAZING! I purchased this because all other pads for hip thrust always hurt me. Back story is my fiance got me to start doing hip thrusts back in 2021 and I have been stuck on 315lb-ish because no matter what pad I used, I always got bruising. Not with this ab mat! I felt no pain whatsoever. For reference, I am a 5' 7" 185lb male and did 3 sets 10-12 with 495lb on the barbell hip thrust! I would definitely recommend this product to friends.
Love this product! Before the HTP, I was walking around sad with bruised genitals. Now I’m driving my hips through like James Harrison! From blue sack, to big sack! Thanks, HTP!
The hip thrust pad is very comfortable, even with heavy loads. The construction is solid, we have an older one at the gym that is in perfect shape after being used regularly for years.
Love the hip thrust pad! It has definitely helped me lift heavier, due to comfort. It would be so uncomfortable and I’d get bruises using the barbell pad. Glad I made the switch!
The barbell and collars were purchased in the late ‘70s at a school rummage sale. The weights have been acquired over decades. The Olympic 35s are jury rigged onto the 1” standard bar. The one thing that hasn’t worked on the cheap was pelvic bone protection while doing hip thrusts. The hip thrust pad has been amazing—went from #85 painfully (even with a barbell pad) to #105 pain free in one set. Great when a piece of gear enables more effective training!
I love how comfortable this pad felt against my hips. I prefer to do the classic barbell hip thrusters than the machine hip thruster because it is more challenging. The HTP makes it much more comfortable and safe when doing the classic barbell hip thruster.
This is a GAME CHANGER. I couldn’t thrust 95 pounds without feeling like I was really hurting myself then I get this pad and I’m thrusting 205 pounds and climbing!
This thing is a life saver. I’m not getting paid to say that either, it’s legit. I have no pain on my hips from the barbell anymore. It is slightly awkward to position in the beginning, but it’s worth the extra effort. I accidentally put it away when I had one set left, so I used the foam roll that wraps around the barbell instead. Instantly regretted it. I’ll never not have this when I’m doing hip thrusts.
Great product! We previously used a barbell neck pad for hip thrusts, which never worked that well. The hip thrust pad has made heavy hip thrust pain a thing of the past. I would highly recommend it to anyone that performs hip thrusts regularly!
It helps with the weight. It does still make you feel limited on getting up because it is wide and doesn’t rotate like a barbell pad. But still like it overall
It helps, but it's not perfect! This product is definitely better than a foam barbell pad, but it's a little cumbersome to use, and definitely doesn't eliminate all hip discomfort for a 330+ lb hip thrust like I had hoped it would.
OMG! I cannot believe the difference. From a barbell pad, the circular ones that encircle the bar, to this - night and day difference. Went from 265lbs to 300lbs and that was the only difference. I suspected the pain of thrusting with that other pad was holding me back, but I didn't know it was THIS much! Love it, already told my 3 other girlies I know who lift!
The hard plastic causes the bar to slide around and is quite large and cuts into the users body. If the material was dual density the pad would form better and provide plenty of support and protection. Another dissapointment
Have always wanted to try zerchers, really enjoy the other Abmat products I have and this might be my favorite. Makes them very comfortable - great alternative to a front squat and helps me get lower on my back squats.
Essential equipment for heavy hip thrusts. If you are moving more than 200 pounds, this is so much more comfortable than a standard barbell pad or folded yoga mat. Discomfort is no longer the limiting factor - only strength!
The bar rolls off the pad. The pad is not curved towards the bar so the bar rolls off your hips which means you are fighting with the bar to keep it in the proper position. Would work better if there were supports straps built in to hold the bar in place. Dissappointed.
This Mat is just too difficult to keep the bar on it. It wants to shift and let the bar roll every time I move during a hip trust. Unfortunately it was not cheep and now I’m likely to get a pad that goes around the bar instead. I had such high hopes, but great disappointment.
I like how compact it is and it works great up to 225 pounds. After 3 plates each side, it hurts my hips/hip bones... I wish I could have replace my Kneeling pad with this
